The Red River Gorge

The Red River Gorge in Kentucky is the Mountaineers go-to climbing mecca. With routes on the Yosemite Decimal System ranging from beginner to feats of Chris Sharma endurance, the Red offers exciting adventure for all climbers. Many small groups of Mountaineers trek the four hours to the Red on weekends throughout early fall and late spring quarter and throughout the summer. The Big Free Climb in late October also brings Mountaineers in droves down to the Kentucky wilderness. If you’re yearning to go, ask around. Somebody’s bound to be heading there soon.
